I know it's only Rock 'n' Roll, but I like it!

Rock 'n' Roll is probably the best thing that has happened to mankind. The dwindling number of bands today playing good old Rock 'n' Roll is sad to see, with most bands and even listeners switching to metal and electronically produced sounds.  Drums and guitars are being replaced by synthesizers, turntables and loop machines (and whatever else it is that DJs use).

But there is a fair sized population in this world determined to keep the Rock 'n' Roll spirit alive. One such man is Billy Bones (yes, that's the name on his driving license too). The 32-year-old Vancouver, Canada native started the Sparrow Guitar Company three years ago with a vision - to let anyone today be able to have a great-looking electric guitar that they could use to play some great old-time Rock 'n' Roll. He imports bare-bone guitars from Asia (which, incidentally is what better known companies such as Gibson and Fender, also do) and completely overhauls them. New hardware. New electronics. New fretwork. And best of all - new paintwork! Classic 50's stuff - hotrods, pinball and tattoos. What's more - they're affordable, priced between $450 and $1500. With names like Heartbreaker, Twangmaster, Big Daddy and Rat Rod, they do enough to invoke the Rock 'n' Roll spirit within.

Here's an interesting series of ads that encourages the youth of today to really get into the spirit of that music, ditch Guitar Hero, buy a real guitar and play live. And they're damn right. There's no better feeling than getting up on stage and thrashing out some good old pre-electronic era music!
